I started a blog back in 2011. I was 8 months out of grad school and had just landed my first “real” job. I was living in Asheville, NC and I thought I was an expert on cooking. I don’t remember the name of the blog and I’m pretty sure it only had 1 post. Looking back, I wasn’t ready to take on that challenge. I had a lot more to learn about cooking, about my taste preferences, and about life.
I’ve been sitting on this blog for a long time. I was under the assumption that I couldn’t flip the switch until it was absolutely perfect. Recently I’ve been trying to reframe my mindset to be more open and forgiving, less rigid. I’m not where I want to be in my career, I don’t have peace in my life, and waiting for perfection is only delaying a dream I’ve had for a very long time. Launching this blog in a state nowhere near perfection is one of the steps I’m taking to reframe my life. It is scary and exhilarating. I am constantly aware that I may fall flat on my face. But there is a small amount of hope that this could lead to the life I am meant to live. My hope is as I grow this space I can use it to look back on where I started and my journey of fulfilling my dream as a food blogger and photographer.
For all of you out there who have jumped without a safety net and for those of you teetering on the edge, this one is for you.
